The Utah State Women’s Basketball finished the 2016-17 Regular Season with a record of 16-13, including a record of 9-9 in the Mountain West Conference.
This season has been all about exceeding expectations. The Aggies were initially picked in the preseason polls to finish ninth in the Mountain West. They enter the conference tournament ranked sixth.
Perhaps the strength of the Aggies is their unpredictability. 10 players have averaged more than three points per game. Six players have averaged more than three rebounds per game.
The Aggies feature an extremely young team. In fact, the Aggies start the youngest lineup in the country. Freshmen have combined to average 33.4 points per game plus 20.6 rebounds per game.
The Aggies have been led by sophomore guard Rachel Brewster, who has averaged 13.7 points per game on the season.
Freshman forward Shannon Dufficy has provided a presence down low, averaging 8.1 points and 8.8 rebounds per contest.
The Aggies head into the tournament averaging 59.9 points per game. Incidentally, the Aggies also average 59.9 points allowed per game.
Utah State is well accustomed to close games this year, having had 14 games decided by single digits. The Aggies are 9-5 in such games.
Utah State enters the Mountain West Conference Tournament as the sixth seed in the conference. They will play 11th-seeded Air Force this Monday at 7 pm at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
