Tim Horton's

Tim Horton, national hockey legend opened his first coffee shop called Tim Horton in Hamilton 1964(about tims). Tim Horton and Ron Joyce, first franchisee became full partners in 1967. In 1974 Tim Horton died and Ron Joyce established the Tim Horton children's foundation to honor Tim's love of children and desire to help less fortunate. The Canadian icon was created in 1976. In 1977 the first Tim Horton's opened in Quebec. In 1984 the first U.S. location opened in NY, The first roll up the rim to win promotions was created. A milestone in 1991 was the 500th store was opened and the 1000th store was opened in 1995. Also in 1995 Tim Horton's merged with Wendy's international inc. The Tim Horton's children foundation opened its first camp in the U.S. in 2000. To celebrate Tim Horton's 40 years double double was added into the Canadian oxford dictionary. In 2006 Tim Horton's officially becomes public all around the world and they are now the third largest restaurant in the world. Tim Horton's is important to me because it raises awareness for the less fortunate and I think it should be celebrated because it helps a lot of people and brings people together.(about tims)


Basketball was invented by Dr.James Naismith in Canada Springfield, Massachusetts in 1891. Dr.James created an indoor sports activity while conducting a physical education(history of basketball in Canada). Dr.James was inspired by a game called duck on a rock that he played when he was younger. The first NBA game to be played was in Toronto on November 1, 1946 and the first contest to be played was on December 21, 1891. Basketball teams representing Canada participated in olympic games since 1936 and a group of women of Canadian women dominated on a 147 game win streak against women and men. This sport is important and should be celebrated because this sport brings physical education and human equality. Basketball is a worldwide sport played by more then 300 million people, this sport is one of the most popular sports and known all over the world and it all started in Canada. This sport raises a lot of money to charity and foundations that help the needy and more.

CN Tower

The Cn tower is one of the tallest buildings in the world opened in June 26, 1976 after it took 40 months of construction. Its Canadas most recognizable icon and its also about 1815ft5inand internationally renowned achievement. Its a world class entertainment and dining destination and a must see for anyone visiting Toronto. Each year 1.5 million people visit Canada's international tower (CN tower). Its the centre of telecommunications for Toronto serving over 16 Canadian television and FM radio stations. The CN tower was built to fix communication problems Toronto enjoys some of the clearest reception. The CN tower was built by Canadian national who wanted to demonstrate the strength of Canadian industry by building a tower taller then any other. During 1995 the CN tower was classified as one of the seven wonders of the modern world. The CN tower is important and should be celebrated because it represents us Canadians and it is one of the tallest buildings in the world.
