Covenants By Sachleen Nahl

Interview with Moses

Me - My name is Sachleen Nahl and today I'm here with Moses at Mount Sinai. So Moses, how did God call you to help him?

Moses - Well I was taking the sheep and goats across the desert when I saw a burning bush. The weird thing was that the bush wasn't burning, it just looked like it burning. Then I heard the Angel of God call my name and told me to get Gods people, the Israelites, out of Egypt.

Me - Why did God want you to take the Israelites out of Egypt?

Moses - He wanted me to take the Israelites out of Egypt because his people were being enslaved by the Egyptians.

Me - Getting the Israelites out of Egypt wouldn't be easy, so how did you do it Moses?

Moses - When I talked to the King of Egypt he didn't want to let the Israelites go, even though God said that he would send down 10 plagues with the last one being the Angel of Death. When the first plague came he promised to release the Israelites. He broke the promise a first time, then said he would let the Israelites go but he broke the promise a second time. It became a routine, with God forgiving him and re-making the promise, only for the king to break it again.

Me - What was the first plague that God sent?

Moses - When God sent the first plague down, he turned all the water in the land into blood. When the king promised to give the Israelites back, he asked for the water to go back to normal in return. The water kept being changed from water into blood.

Me - How did you get the king to release the Israelites from Egypt?

Moses - After the first plague was sent down and the king disregarded and made fun of it , God had to send all 10 of the most horrible plagues. Once the 10 plagues occurred, the king finally decided to let the Israelites go.

Me - When the Israelites and yourself escaped from Egypt, where did you go?

Moses - Well we had to get to Mount Sinai, but to do that we had to cross the desert. It took us 40 years to cross the desert but once we got there people began worshipping "false" Gods.

Me - 40 years! Wow thats a long time. Was God happy about the Israelites worshipping "false" Gods?

Moses - No, God sent them a message when they got to Mount Sinai and wanted the Israelites to see that he was the only God for them and that they were his people.

Me - Thank you Moses for joining me today! This is Sachleen Nahl signing off.

Exodus 19

Exodus was made in 1445 BCE in Egypt, Mount Sinai. The people involved were Moses, his brother (Aaron), the Egyptians, God, The Egyptian King and the Israelites. Moses saved the Israelites from the Egyptians with Gods help, God saved them by sending 9 plagues and the last one was the Angel of Death. Moses took the Israelites out of Egypt and through the desert to Mount Sinai. My opinion about what happened in this covenant is that Moses was spoken to from the Lord, to take the Israelites out of Egypt and go through the desert to Mount Saini.

Moses was born in Egypt on the 7th Adar, 2368 years before creation (1393 BCE). When Moses was 3 years old he was hidden in a basket and put in the river, in an attempt to save his life. This was because of a command that all Hebrew babies must be killed. He was found in the river by the Pharaoh's daughter, Batyah, who raised him in the palace in Egypt. He grew up in the Egyptian Palace. He received and delivered the ten commandments. The Angel of the Lord appeared to him as a flame coming from the middle of a bush. God told him to take the Israelites out of Egypt. Moses went out with the Israelites to find Mount Sinai for 40 years. He died in 1272 BCE. He was the son of Amram and Yochebed of the tribe of Levi . Moses centred his life on Gods promises. He never regretted the choices he made in faith. God parted the Red Sea and made it into a escape route for the Israelites. After the Ten Plagues, Moses led the Exodus of the Israelites out of Egypt and across the Red Sea, after which they based themselves at Mount Sinai, where Moses received the Ten Commandments.

How Moses Heard The Call Of God

One day Moses was taking care of the sheep and goats. He had to lead the flock across the desert. As he was walking he spotted a bush on fire but the bush was not burning up. When Moses got closer he heard the Angel of God call his name and gave him Gods instructions.

How Moses Demonstrated His Faith

Moses demonstrated his faith to God by taking the Israelites out of Egypt. God didn't want his people to be enslaved by the Egyptians, so he asked Moses to help him. Moses and the Israelites walked through the desert for 40 years trying to get to Mount Sinai. Once they arrived at Mount Sinai, Moses taught the Israelites to worship God.
