Thomas Hooker founded colony of Connecticut, in the year 1636.

He was born in 1586 and passed away in 1647.

Thomas Hooker was famous as a gifted orator, outspoken Puritan clergyman and the leader of the Connecticut Colony.

The religion of Connecticut was primarily Puritans. The Puritans were part of the Reform movement and wanted to purify the Anglican church of corruption. They left Europe for the Americans in search of religious freedom.

New England was the coldest of the three religions, mild and short summers leading to long, cold winters but less disease than in the warmer colonies.

The geography of Connecticut has narrow lowlands and hilly eastern uplands. The basic geography consisted of mountains thick with trees, Rivers and poor rocky soil that was difficult to farm and unsuitable for crops.

Their economy/jobs were concentrated in manufacture and focused on town life an industries such as ship building and the manufacture and export of rum. Farming was difficult for crops like wheat because of the poor soil but corn, pumpkins, and rye.

Fact- Major towns/ Cities: Were Hartford and New Haven.

Fact- History: Connecticut was the 5th of the original 13 colonies to become a state on January 9th, 1788. 1637 the Pequot war- The Pequot were defeated by the colonists, who were led by John Underhill and John Mason, and the Narragansetts and Mohegans who were their allies.
