The annual sophomore class camping trip to The Pinery Provincial Park in Grand Bend, ON, or commonly referred to as The Pinery, is definitely known as a star in Greenhills’ traditions. When asked about their time at Greenhills, alumni frequently give the spotlight to this trip. Alongside the students view, the chaperones share the love for The Pinery; for some have been going for 25 years.
Dr. Randolph, an early contributor and a “hall of famer” chaperone of The Pinery, says that “It is absolutely essential for a Greenhills student and is a jewel in the crown. It is the thing I love most about being here.” I’ve come to learn and believe that all of the things said about The Pinery are true. I even think some might be understatements. A current student, Max Wen, gave his perspective on the trip, he said, “It is by far, the best Greenhills trip and there is nothing else like it.”
My experience at The Pinery was outstanding. Although, unfortunately, it rained most of the time we were there, it ultimately boosted our motivation for card games and let us embrace the full camping experience. The Pinery was everything that I expected and it was truly a transformative experience for me as a Greenhills student.
