Corey Times August 9th, 2021

Welcome back, Corey Cubs! We are looking forward to the 2021-2022 school year. Our staff has been eagerly preparing our learning spaces, planning engaging lessons, and participating in staff development opportunities. We were able to collaborate in full day training opportunities around Dual Language, as well as Fine Arts Integration.

Please take a moment to look over the "Return to School Plan for Parents and Students" posted in Arlington ISD's webpage.

Please take a moment to visit Arlington ISD's Family Support page (linked below). This page contains all the information you need regarding registration, transportation, Parent Self Serve, school lunches, etc.

We would like to thank all our families who have completed the registration process online, and who have uploaded all their documents. Please make sure to come by the school to verify that everything is in order, and to pick up your child/children's homeroom teacher cards. Please make sure to hold on to these cards, since they will be the "ticket" in to the Meet the Teacher/Sneak-a-Peek event on Thursday, August 12th from 5:30-7:00 p.m.

If you have not been able to register yet, please take a moment to fill out the registration by following the link below. All AISD students must register through Frontline TEAMS (Parent Self Serve) and upload the appropriate documents shown below. Families are strongly encouraged to complete online registration and upload as many registration documents as possible during this process. These documents must be uploaded prior to the first day of school. If you were unable to come by the school during the Registration Days, please come by the office during this upcoming week between 8:30-11:00 and 1:00-4:00 p.m.

Registration Documents

We hope everyone can join us on Thursday, August 12th from 5:30-7:00 p.m. for our Sneak-A-Peek. Please make sure to bring the homeroom teacher card given to you during Registration as your "ticket" into the event. This is a great opportunity to meet your child's teacher, drop off supplies, and visit the building. A huge thank you to our Corey Cubs PTA for coordinating our school supply sale. They will be delivering all the Supply Packs directly to the classroom before the first day of school.

Our Corey Cubs PTA will be selling Corey Spiritwear during our Sneak-a-Peek! Let's get ready to show our school spirit this year, and don't forget to join the PTA!

We appreciate our Corey Cubs PTA for coordinating our School Supply pack sale. They will have those pre-purchased school supplies delivered directly to the classroom before the first day of school. Please contact our PTA directly if you have any questions about school supply packs purchased.

Please see School Supply list below for those who still need to purchase supplies for the school year.

This year we will resume our policy of not allowing rolling back-packs on campus. Last year we made an exception because our students had to carry so many items from one place to another. This year, we plan to have students use the lockers as we had in the past. Rolling back-packs do not fit in the lockers, so we request that students bring regular back-packs to school.

Arlington ISD provides transportation to and from Corey Academy and various transportation hub sites. The students should be at their hubs by 7:05 a.m. The driver may or may not adjust the times, but will inform us if they do change. The afternoon drop-off times vary upon location, traffic, etc. They usually drop off between 3:50-4:30. Please take a moment to apply for transportation if interested.

Arlington ISD will utilize an option provided by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) to provide free breakfast and lunch for all students throughout the 2021-22 school year.

All students will automatically qualify for free meals. Meal applications will not be needed to receive free meals for the 2021-22 school year.

To help ensure students receive all State funding and benefits available to their school and for appropriate comparisons for State accountability purposes, families will be asked to complete a Household Family Data Collection form.

Students needing proof of free and reduced price meals will also complete a Household Family Data Collection form.

Welcome Back Corey Cubs!

We are so excited for another school year! I wanted to highlight a few things that I will be on the lookout for this next week.

Medications: If your student has medications they take in the clinic then I will need to have the medication administration form signed by the parent/guardian, the doctor, and with information on the medication/dose/route. I will need this form before I can give medications to your student. You can print off the form or pick one up from the front office. You can drop off your medications and forms anytime this week or next week. Please see the attached medication form.

Vaccine Records: If you know you have updated your vaccines or need to get those turned into me (incoming kinder kids, transfers, or updated conscious objection forms) then please either drop them by the front office or email them to me at: jsmith52@aisd.net

If you need a place to get vaccines for school, please see the attached for more information.

Covid policies for 2021-2022 school year: Please see the "Return to School FAQ" link at the top of this Corey Times.

Food Allergies: All students will be eating lunch in the cafeteria this year. If your student needs special accommodations in the cafeteria due to food allergies, please reach out to me. Parents, please remind your students to keep food to themselves. We do not allow sharing of food or food containers at Corey. Let's try to keep all our students healthy by keeping our hands clean and to ourselves at lunch time.

My mission statement for my clinic has always been "Helping Children Grow: Happy, Healthy, and Whole". I created that mission statement back in 2019 to help guide my healthcare practice as I care for the students and staff at Corey. My hope and prayer is that all our students and staff will know that health is wholistic and an ongoing process. We all owe it to ourselves and our children to take our health (mental, physical, social) seriously. It will be my job and passion to walk alongside you and your children to ensure that our students, staff, and families can GROW: Happy, Healthy, and Whole this school year.

With much love,

Nurse Jennifer

Good morning Corey Families! I hope this finds you well! I am so excited to share with you that Corey will be putting on a musical this fall called "The Music Man"! We are so excited to start performing again and this will be a great way to start!

Auditions for the musical will be the week of August 23rd for Third, Fourth, and Fifth grade students. Attached to this post are the monologues that students will be performing and at the link below is the song they'll be performing, with vocal and instrumental only versions.

This Thursday at Sneak-a-peek in the Cafeteria you can grab the audition forms from me but they will also be passed out the first week of school as well!

Thank you for your support and email me with any questions at frosale1@aisd.net
