The Sun's Energy Solar power

1) Solar power is the energy formed from the sun. The sun is 150 million kilometers away and yet the smallest amount of it produces a lot of energy.

2) Solar cells are cells that convert light directly into electricity.

This is a solar panel that converts the sun's light into energy.

3) In a sunny climate, you can make enough power to run a 100W light bulb from 1 square meter of solar panel.

4) A solar furnace is a large structure of mirrors used to focus the sun's energy into one spot and create high temperatures.

This solar furnace is in Odeillo France and it is used for experiments, and it can create heats up to 3,000 degrees celsius

5) Solar energy is what powers the satellites that orbit the earth.

6) Nasa is currently working on a solar powered aircraft.

7) Most solar panels have a warranty of 25 years

Advantages: no pollution, solar power provides lots of jobs, Renewable source, price has gone down over the past couple of years, and there really reliable

Disadvantages: energy cannot be created during the night, it's still really expensive, and they don't produce lots of energy
