UNC Kappa Phi Lambda Fall 2016 Newsletter

Greetings our lovely alumnae! We would like to thank you, each and individually, for your constant love and support for our colony. This semester has been filled with lots of love, joy, and laughter. Here's to a great 2016 and an even more fabulous 2017!

Sisterhood Dinner

Before school started, sisters decided to take some time out of their day to enjoy some delicious pho at Vany's home in Cary (thank you, Mrs. Nguyen). Here we were able to catch up on how everyone's summer went and how excited we were for the Fall semester to come.

UNC LPhiE Installs

To congratulate the Delta Class of Lambda Phi Epsilon, our active sisters and alums got dressed up and attended their wonderful installs event at the Carolina Inn. It was a great night of Greek pride!

Every Vote Counts

As active members of our community, we understand that the importance of civic responsibility is paramount to the success of democracy and philanthropy. We took the time out of our schedule to vote in the early election this year because every vote counts.

Thank you, Xuan and Alexis

Grateful and proud would be an understatement. We thank you both, as well as our alum Bethany Ngo, for taking the time out of your Fall Break to represent our colony at UNC Asheville's Homecoming event. You guys rock!

Friendsgiving Potluck

As Thanksgiving was coming around the corner, a few of us got together to enjoy delicious food and company. Here are some of our Neos happy as ever because they've just gained 20+ quirky and always hungry sisters.

Big & Little Luncheon

After their reveal, our Divergent Deltas showed off their beautiful paddles to their Bigs and Program Educators at our Big & Little Luncheon at Shiki Sushi. Alumnae and NC State sisters came out to meet our new class and to enjoy some delicious food with us!

Kappa Secret Santa

Before all the chaos from finals started, we decided to bring some early holiday spirit with a sisterhood Secret Santa event. Everyone walked away with some cute and comfy gifts from their Secret Santa. It was a fun-filled event!

To all the sisters who have continuously supported our colony, from all over the world, thank you. We love you all.

Carolina Cupboard

During the holiday season, many only remember the gifts they receive, but sisters kept in mind the true reason for the holidays and that's to give back. What better way to spread holiday cheer than giving back to our own student community. We sat down and wrote letters to our fellow students in need and supplied them with simple necessities that some are unable to afford. Not only are we aiding our student community, but we are also supporting the student run organization, Carolina Cupboard.

Trunk or Treat?

Right before Halloween, our sisters decorated car trunks, painted faces, decorated pumpkins, and provided candy as a safe alternative to trick or treating for the Boys and Girls Club.

International Festival

This year at the International Festival in Downtown Raleigh, sisters volunteered as trash patrols to raise awareness about recycling. We were able to participate in and learn about different cultural activities from countries all over the world.

Operation Christmas Child

As our last service event of the semester, we worked with the gentlemen of Lambda Phi Epsilon to packed shoe boxes with gifts for kids in need. All gifts were donated by the members of both active house.

The Stand Against White Hollywood
The Stand Against White Hollywood Discussion

In a joint event with UNC Asian Students Association, we led an open discussion on the lack of AAPI representation in Hollywood. We discussed a variety of topics such as, how are Asian Americans breaking through in media, what avenues do Asian Americans participate in, and who are the faces of today's movement to increase representation.

Triangle Area Dragon Boat Festival

On a bright sunny day, sisters volunteered their time to working at the annual Raleigh Dragon Boat Festival. At this festival, we were able to learn more about traditional dragon boats, watch live traditional Chinese performances, and meet many people from different Chinese cultures.
