The Fire in Tennessee!
A fire started in The Great Smoky Mountains but due to the strong winds that got up to 70 miles per hour, the fires have spread to Gatlinburg and other near by cities. People close to the area, were asked to evacuate and all schools nearby were closed.
This has been the worst drought in the southeast of Tennessee for nearly a decade. There are currently 14 wildfires spreading about 15,000 acres.
Many buildings have “lost to the fire” including a 16 story hotel and an apartment complex. Currently 7 people have lost their lives and many are injured such as an evacuee who was burned. The skies here are full of smoke due to the smoke the fires are giving off.
Ripley’s Aquarium in Gatlinburg and Dollywood theme park in Pigeon Forge could have been impacted on this event. The aquarium is empty except for the animals, which could be in serious conditions due to the smoky air. Dollywood employees were asked to leave because in a matter of time in could be in a fire so they were asked to leave to stay safe.
The mixture of all of these things is how the fire in Gatlinburg, Tennessee could have started.
Many firefighters were needed in this natural disaster in order to take down the 14 wildfires or the 15,000 acres that were set on fire.
As you can see the picture of deers by the wildfire shows us that not only were the people's houses destroyed, but the animals too.
