The Tougher Shell Buckeyes Hold Off No. 2 Terps on Pink Night, Climb Back into B1G Lead

Kelsey Mitchell and the No. 12 ranked Buckeyes came out shooting white hot on pink night at The Schott, building a double-digit lead after the first quarter.

In the second half, Ohio State saw the No. 2 Terps tear off a 14-0 run to cut the margin to two heading into the final stanza ...

On senior night Shayla Cooper was a spark plug early, helping the Buckeyes scorch the nets at a 78 FG percent clip in the first quarter.

Cooper finished the evening with 20 points and nine rebounds in her final contest in Value City Arena.


Ohio State 37 - Maryland 22

Spanning the first and second quarters, the Buckeyes established a program record with 15-consecutive made field goals.

Mitchell, who led all scorers with 31 points, Helped Ohio State take a 49-40 edge to the locker room.



Ohio State 68 - Maryland 66

The Buckeyes extended out to a 16-point lead early in the second half, but the second-ranked Terps crawled back to within a pair after a 14-0 run.

Five Buckeyes scored 11 or more points as the squad shot better than 63 percent from the floor Monday.

The Buckeyes weathered the Maryland threat and moved their advantage back out to double-digits with less than four minutes to play.

The victory over the second-ranked Terps is Ohio State's 10th in-a-row as the Buckeyes move into a tie with Maryland for the B1G lead with a game remaining.

Note: Since joining the B1G, Maryland has lost in conference play just three times ... all three to Ohio State.
