Wesleyan Softball Season Preview 2019

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - The Wesleyan University softball team enters the 2019 campaign with its sights set on a run to the postseason. Last spring, the Cardinals advanced to the NESCAC Quarterfinals, but fell 7-1 to No. 15 Tufts. Earlier in the year, the team posted six-straight wins against conference opponents (Bates, Trinity and Hamilton) and are eager to make it back to the NESCAC Tournament this spring.

Head Coach Jen Lane enters her 18th season at the helm of the program, boasting six NESCAC Tournament appearances and one conference crown on her list of accolades. Lane welcomes Rielly Wieners ’18 to her coaching staff this season, as Wieners concluded her senior year last spring with All-NESCAC Second Team accolades, as well as finding herself ninth-overall on the team’s career 100-hit club list with 120.

head coach jen lane's thoughts

“Wesleyan Softball should be a force to be reckoned with this year. The returners all gained invaluable experience in the NESCAC Tournament last season, which combined with a talented freshmen class, will help us set the bar even higher this year.”
