(Make You Feel My Love) by Adele written by Bob Dylan found on Google Play Music

When the rain is blowing in your face

And the whole world is on your case

I could offer you a warm embrace

To make you feel my love

When the evening shadows and the stars appear

And there is no one there to dry your tears

I could hold you for a million years

To make you feel my love

I know you haven't made your mind up yet

But I would never do you wrong

I've known it from the moment that we met

no doubt in my mind where you belong

I'd go hungry, I'd go black and blue

I'd go crawling down the avenue

No, there's nothing that I wouldn't do

To make you feel my love

The storms are raging on the rolling sea

And on the highway of regret

The winds of change are blowing wild and free

You ain't seen nothing like me yet

I could make you happy, make your dreams come true

Nothing that I wouldn't do

Go to the ends of the Earth for you

To make you feel my love

To make you feel my love

Metaphor-1st line: When he says that line it's comparing the rain blowing in your face to all the trouble and pain hitting you . He shows how all the emotions keep coming and aren't letting up.

Hyperbole-13th line:In this line he is saying that he loves her so much he'd do anything to be with her. With this figurative language used it helps create this picture of total despair and willingness.

(Daniel) by Elton John written by Vladimire Cort John,Bernie taupin found on Google Play Music

I can see the red tail lights heading for Spain

Oh and I can see Daniel waving goodbye

God it looks like Daniel, must be the clouds in my eyes*

They say Spain is pretty though I've never been

Well Daniel says it's the best place that he's ever seen

Oh and he should know, he's been there enough

Lord I miss Daniel, oh I miss him so much

Daniel my brother you are older than me

Do you still feel the pain of the scars that won't heal

Your eyes have died but you see more than I

Daniel you're a star in the face of the sky

Daniel is travelling tonight on a plane

I can see the red tail lights heading for Spain

Oh and I can see Daniel waving goodbye

God it looks like Daniel, must be the clouds in my eyes

Personification-10th line: In this line he is saying that his brother is dead.By using the figurative language he is able to convey such a bigger message. It gives the reader an image of his brother being in heaven watching over him.

Imagery-9th line: In this line he is saying that when he was hurt (by his brothers death) that spot never healed , and every time he thought about th e time there was still a tinge of pain.By comparing it to a scar it gives the reader a better understanding of how he feels.

(Dead and Gone) by Justin Timberlake written by Clifford Harris, Robin Tadross, and Justin Timberlake found on Google Play Music

Aye, let me kick it to you right quick, man

Not on some gangsta ****

Man, on some real ****

Anybody done been through the same thing

I'm sure you feel the same way

Big Phil, this for you, pimpin'

Ohh, I've been travelin' on this road too long

Just tryin' to find my way back home

The old me is dead and gone, dead and gone

And ohh, I've been travelin' on this road too long

Just tryin' to find my way back home

The old me is dead and gone, dead and gone, hey

Ever had one of them days wish you would've stayed home

Run into a group of *****s who gettin' they hate on?

You walk by, they get wrong; you reply, then shit get blown

Way outta proportion, way past discussion

Just you against them, pick one then rush him

Figure you get jumped, hell, that's nothin'

They don't wanna stop there, now they bustin'

Now you gushin', ambulance rushin'

You to the hospital with a bad concussion

Plus you hit four times, plus it hit yo' spine

Paralyzed waist down, now you're wheel chair bound

Nevermind that now, you lucky to be alive

Just think, it all started you fussin' with three guys

Now your pride in the way, but your pride is the way

You could **** around, get shot, die any day

Niggas die everyday, all over bull****

Dope money, dice game, ordinary hood ****

Could this be ‘cause of hip hop music?

Or did the ones with the good sense not use it?

Usually niggas don't know what to do when

Their back against the wall, so they just start shootin'

For red or for blue or for blow, I guess

From Bankhead at the old projects

No more stress, now I'm straight

Now I get it, now I take time to think

Before I make mistakes just for my family's sake

That part of me left yesterday

The heart of me is strong today

No regrets, I'm blessed to say the old me dead and gone away

Ohh, I've been travelin' on this road too long

Just tryin' to find my way back home

The old me is dead and gone, dead and gone

And ohh, I've been travelin' on this road too long

Just tryin' to find my way back home

The old me is dead and gone, dead and gone, hey

I ain't never been scared, I lived through tragic

Situation could've been dead lookin' back at it

Most of that shit didn't even have to happen

But you don't think about it when you out there trappin'

In apartments, hangin', smokin', and rappin'

Niggas start ****, next thing you know we cappin'

Get locked up then, didn't even get mad

Now think about, ****, what a life I had!

Most of that ****, look back, just laugh

Some shit, still look back, get sad

Maybe my homeboy still be around

Had I not hit the nigga in the mouth that time

I won that fight, I lost that war

I can still see my **** walking out that door

Who'd have thought I'd never see Philant no more?

Got enough dead homies, I don't want no more

Cost a nigga his jaw, cost me more

I'd have took that ***-whoopin' now for sure

Now think before I risk my life

Take them chances to get my stripe

A nigga put his hands on me – alright

Otherwise, stand there, talk **** all night

‘Cause I hit you, you sue me

I shoot you, get locked up, who me?

No more stress, now I'm straight

Now I get it, now I take time to think

Before I make mistakes just for my family's sake

That part of me left yesterday

The heart of me is strong today

No regrets, I'm blessed to say the old me dead and gone away

Ohh, I've been travelin' on this road too long

Just tryin' to find my way back home

The old me is dead and gone, dead and gone

And ohh, I've been travelin' on this road too long

Just tryin' to find my way back home

The old me is dead and gone, dead and gone, hey

I turn my head to the East

I don't see nobody by my side

I turn my head to the West

Still nobody in sight

So I turn my head to the North

Swallow that pill that they call pride

That old me is dead and gone

But that new me will be alright

Ohh, I've been travelin' on this road too long

Just tryin' to find my way back home

The old me is dead and gone, dead and gone

And ohh, I've been travelin' on this road too long

Just tryin' to find my way back home

The old me is dead and gone, dead and gone, hey

Imagery-Line 20:He is describing his current state in great detail giving you the image of bloody man and an ambulance. The writer put it in to give a mental image of the seriousness of the event. By using the imagery he gives the audience a mental glance of the scene.

Hyperbole-Line 60: When he says that line it explains how he may have beaten the guy up but he ruined his life for it. The author used the hyperbole to intensify the comparison of a real war and an inner war. It effects the song by giving a subtle feeling of adrenaline and loss.

Figurative Language Poem by Daycee DeWindt

The old man, with the gun, rounds up the antsy girls. He hurriedly mumbles unimportant rules. Then they shuffle off to the start line, dragging they're feet. Each of them going through they're little routines. From afar an arm raises, hushing the crowd. The runners crouch down arching they're backs and thrusting out one leg opposite of the arm in a perfect 90 degree angle. All those twitches have gone and it looks as if they're now a line of statues. Bang, suddenly the statues shatter. Bringing forth bodies. Arms are thrashing and legs are pumping. All the sets of feet create sounds as if it were a stampede. The quiet countryside is now filled with huffs and puffs. Distant voices yell out encouraging words. The audiences hope and anticipation floats throughout the air.By the end the strong have separated from the weak. Runners now heavy legs resisting the urge to collapse. Once the finish is in sight they're raw endurance kicks in. Forcing all the burning muscles to make the final drive. A rainbow of colors flashes by and screams fill the moment. There, past the finish line, bodies are being held up as they sway side to side. Some lay on the ground or bend down to hurl. Through the fog of exhausted competitors come the sighs of relief ... and the smiles of happy hearts.
