Father James Parker Honoring #HeroPriests

Father James Parker, Holy Cross Catholic Church, Batavia, IL

Submitted by: Cindy Conte

Father Parker is an incredible shepherd for his parish. When the pandemic began, he made sure that we were able to receive Mass daily through Facebook Live. He also brings us a daily 3 p.m. Divine Mercy Chaplet, and a Holy Hour each night with Rosary, daily examination of conscience and night prayers in front of the Blessed Sacrament. As soon as he received the OK to open the church back up, he began daily Mass, confessions and Perpetual Adoration. He made sure to accommodate as many who wanted to attend by offering extra Masses. He spent many hours preparing for the reopening of our church to keep everyone safe. He sacrifices his time and much of his energy for his parishioners.

Father Parker speaks from his heart. His devotion to Our Lady and the Eucharist and the many saints have just helped me to grow in my faith as a Catholic. He is obedient to the bishop, he is humble, and he radiates the joy of Jesus!

He has sacrificed much and his beautiful heart has touched many.
