Pasture Valley Newsletter October-December 2016

Matthew 5: 8 “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see the Lord.”

THANK YOU!

To all of you we want to say a big THANK YOU for supporting us this year with love, encouragement, prayer, donations and assistance in many ways. May God bless you and we wish you all a very happy Christmas and New Year

FRUIT HARVEST

God has provided us with a tremendous fruit harvest this year. The orchards have finally come into their own with apricots, peaches, figs, blueberries and mulberries all in season. The plums have been so numerous that the branches are breaking under the weight of the fruit and the children are carrying off buckets full daily to eat and enjoy! Praise God for this harvest.

BRINGING JOY TO CHILDREN IN THE COMMUNITIES

On 26 November Pasture Valley held a Christmas function for children in the Hlatikulu area which included Gogo Nde care Centre and Zondle Girls orphanage. The day started with prayer in the church and worship and then the children played games, had lunch and were given gift parcels for Christmas. On the 3rd of December, the children from the remaining areas came to Pasture Valley to celebrate Christmas and have a day of fun. We are once again grateful to our supporters for funding this function which the children really look forward to coming to each year

PRESCHOOL GRADUATION

December is a busy time for preschools as they each have a graduation ceremony for the little ones that graduate from preschool to Grade one. These are large events where the children perform a dance or song item and show what they have learnt. The children then don their graduation gowns and caps and do a march to the cheering parents who have gifts for the children and take photographs. I attended a few of these events this year and smile each time as the little ones show how they can count to ten and list their shapes or colours. We hope to continue to support preschools next year. It is rewarding to see how the preschools have grown from a leaking shack to a learning centre where children get food daily too. We are so grateful that funds were provided through our Australian supporters for 2 more preschools to be put up this year with the last preschool being erected at Mpandesane last week. At Pasture Valley 4 of our children graduated and Teacher Nomcebo can be proud of her work and the progress made with the children. At Ekuthuleni Growing Faith preschool a further 28 children graduated.

BAMBANANI

Another project we give glory to God for is the Bambanani Project as it continues to support the ladies that make crafts from 3 different communities. Production bonuses were paid out this month and a Christmas food hamper was given to each Bambanani Project lady.

PRAYER REQUESTS

  • Gratefulness for the wonderful rains that fell.
  • Gratefulness for God’s provision of funds for the Christmas functions for the children and for the wonderful weather on the days of the functions.
  • Gratefulness for all our housemothers and volunteers that work hard to care for children each day.
  • Prayer for continued protection at Ekuthuleni and Pasture Valley.
  • Prayer for the children and for the choices they make regarding their education and their futures.

CHRISTMAS GREETINGS

Luke 1: 78- 79: “ Because of our God’s merciful compassion, the Dawn from on high will visit us to shine on those who live in darkness… .”

We are so grateful that God sent His Son Jesus to live among us and to save us.

HAVE A BLESSED CHRISTMAS AS YOU REMEMBER JESUS’S BIRTH.

THANK YOU JESUS FOR YOUR GRACE AND TRUTH.

MAY YOUR 2017 BE FILLED WITH LOVE, JOY AND PEACE.

From The McCubbin family- Peter, Michelle, Claire and Luke and all our beautiful children at Pasture Valley
