LaAmistad At Peachtree May 4,2017

Our Dearest Friends,

How quickly the time has flown by since we've embarked on this journey eight months ago. You have unselfishly given of your time, talent and love. It is because of you that our students have succeeded in school this year. We can not thank you enough. We however hope you realize how much we appreciate and value you here at Peachtree.

Our last day of programming here at Peachtree will be Thursday, May 11,2017. The  parents of our students are preparing food for our year end Fiesta celebration. We certainly hope that as many of you as possible will be able to join us.

Awards Week

Sweet Success Classroom Award Recognition

Next week is the final week of programming and we want to make it a very special one.

Starting Monday and each day until our Closing Awards ceremony on Thursday each class will host their own "special" in class award ceremony. The goal is to recognize each student in some way before Thursday.

Certificates have been printed and ready for distribution each day next week. This is how it will work. If you have a class of 12, on Monday you will receive 4 student certificates with their names and the award to be given to those children. On Tuesday our volunteers will find 4 different awards to be distributed to specific students and finally on Wednesday volunteers will find the final 4 student recognition award certificates.

FULL S.T.E.A.M Ahead

As we wind down the students have had an absolute BLAST during their S.T.E.A.M project challenges. Our fifth graders were super engaged while they collaborated and designed Marble race tracks . Our fourth graders were blown away while learning about chemical reactions during their balloon races. Our second graders got in on the act as they learned the art of color mixing and designed some terrific tie dyed shirts. It was a perfect week of exciting engagement.

Thank you for helping to guide and bring out the best in your students. Thank you for encouraging a sense of wonder and cultivating the seeds of greatness as they explore and discover the world around them through S.T.E.A.M

17th Annual LaAmistad Golf Classic
May 12, 2017

Golf Classic History

In 2000, the inaugural LaAmistad Golf Classic was held by the great Bill Maness, founder of LaAmistad in efforts to raise funds to support his newly born program. The 1st Annual LaAmistad Golf Classic astoundingly raised 90% of the funds needed to support his new program, LaAmistad.

Maness wrote “Our goals are to help the students achieve an academic level that will enable them to excel in school. We will take new kindergarten kids each year and continue to work with the children as they move into middle and high school, and hopefully college. I can tell you these children are bright and energetic with a desire to learn that I have not seen before.”

Even after Maness’ sudden and unfortunate death in 2004, the golf tournament has continued on each year, becoming a signature event at LaAmistad. Supporters of LaAmistad look forward to teeing off each year to help it continue its success and transformation within the Buckhead community! Everyone is invited to play!

A Word of Thanks
The key to our success rests in people like you, who embody the spirit of greatness by saying, "Yes I can, and so can you!" Thanks for your inspiring dedication and tremendous example to our students here at LaAmistad at Peachtree

Have a fabulous weekend!
