Ellie was already a singer before she came to the Academy, but she sang as part of a choir for the first time in sixth grade. “I’d never sung with such a large group of people,” she says.
It was really fun, and I learned so much more because I could hear all of the different voices and talents.”
Ellie chose theatre class for her performing arts in seventh grade, in part because she’d like to be part of the Academy’s spring musicals, which have earned New Mexico High School Musical Theatre Enchantment Awards, including Best High School Production for The Phantom of the Opera in 2019.
The performing arts department also offers choir, band, orchestra, guitar, and dance and numerous extracurriculars related to each discipline, including the mariachi band and dance troupe.
