Bec Cooper | Digital Sales Manager | Southern Cross Austereo

Bec Cooper started her media journey in 2009, after graduating from QUT with a Bachelor of Business (PR) & Bachelor of Creative Industries (Media & Communications). Through her determination and enthusiasm for the industry, Bec has since grown her knowledge across Agency and Sales roles in various channels and platforms, to become Brisbane’s Digital Sales Manager at Southern Cross Austereo. With a passion for all things digital, audio and strategy, Bec prides herself on delivering innovative media solutions for clients that deliver results. Her motto is simple and helps to cut through the bullshit: Authenticity is key. Discipline is essential. Swag is for kicks.

Peter Gollagher | Stakeholder Engagement Consultant | GHD

In his short time at GHD, Peter has had the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects in both stakeholder engagement and social sustainability in the areas of road, rail, education, water and coastal infrastructure, risk analysis, social and economic research, asbestos remediation and groundwater works. The sheer diversity of these projects has enable Peter to work with a wide range of clients including Department of Education (NSW), Sunshine Coast Council, Queensland Rail, City of Gold Coast and Department of Primary Industries (NSW). Moving forward, Peter is eager to undertake more site based work on high risk projects. Peter graduated with a Bachelor of Media and Communications and a Bachelor of Business (Public Relations) from QUT in 2015.

Abigail Benaud | Public Relations Executive | Australia Zoo

Abigail Benaud graduated with a Bachelor of Media & Communication from QUT in 2011. She has always had a passion for the entertainment industry and began producing commercial breakfast radio in 2012. She is currently a public relations executive with Australia Zoo and was previously Guest and Talent Producer for "The Kyle and Jackie-O Show" on KIIS-FM in Sydney.

Lauren Tyler | Group Sales Manager | APN Outdoor

Lauren graduated from QUT in 2007 with a Bachelor of Mass Communications (Media and Communications and Public Relations).While completing her final semester at QUT, Lauren worked part time as an account coordinator at Brisbane media agency, Mitchells (now Carat). Upon graduation from QUT, Lauren commenced full time employment at Mitchells, where she was responsible for planning and buying TV, radio, press, magazines, out of home and digital media channels on behalf of clients such as Tourism & Events QLD, Brisbane Marketing and Flight Centre. After three and a half years at Mitchells, Lauren moved into media sales roles with GOA Billboards, ACP Magazines (now Bauer Media) and APN Outdoor. During this period, her longest stint was with Bauer Media, working across their digital and print portfolio of brands that included Cosmopolitan, Elle, The Australian Women’s Weekly, Qantas and Australian Gourmet Traveller. A significant part of this role was developing and implementing major sponsorships, activations and media campaigns for national clients Priceline Pharmacy and Michael Hill. In early 2017, Lauren returned to Brisbane after 18 months living and working in Perth as the WA Direct Sales Manager for the Australian Radio Network, broadcasters of national radio brands like KIIS FM and Pure Gold. She is currently Group Sales Manager at APN Outdoor, responsible for the QLD media agency market.

How the panels work ...

Each speaker will tell you a little about themselves and their career -- what they studied, how their degree helped them get their job, what their job involves, what they like about their job. Following that, there will be the opportunity for you to ask questions and if time permits join out speakers for coffee and a more informal chat.
