This week in Coker men's soccer: Sept. 30 - oct. 6 at Anderson (Oct. 2) Catawba (Oct. 5)

Coker cobras

This past week was one to remember for the Coker University men's soccer team as they upset nationally ranked opponent Lander University 1-0 on Wednesday (Sept. 25), and defeated South Atlantic Conference opponent Mars Hill University 3-0 on Sunday (Sept. 29). The team's confidence is sky high right now as they prepare for two more SAC opponents this week when they travel to face off against the Anderson University Trojans on Wednesday (Oct. 2) at 7:30 p.m., and the Catawba College Indians at home on Saturday (Oct. 5) at 7:00 p.m. at the Coker Athletic Field.

"I'm proud of how we performed as a team this week," said coach Michael antoniewicz. "we must continue to play with the same sense of urgency."

Antoniewicz is stressing the importance of consistency with his team and to not get too confident after wins. Each and every game is important and they cannot afford to underestimate an opponent. The Cobras have been playing great together as a team, led by the offensive attack of Christian Provenzano who has been dominant on the offensive wing.

Provenzano, a junior forward from Italy, scored the match winning goal versus Lander. Against Mars Hill on Sunday (Sept. 29) Provenzano scored off a free kick and assisted on Lucas Miguel Castrillo's goal. He was named the SAC AstroTurf Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday (Oct. 1).

"Christian is an incredibly skilled player," said antoniewicz. "his strength, pace, and overall skill set causes chaos for opponents."
