Meet Mrs. Gonzales 6th Grade ELA and AAC ELA - 2021-2022

Mrs. Gonzales' Educational Background and Teaching Style:

I received my Bachelor's of Arts in English, with a minor in Psychology, from Texas State University. Also, I received a Master of Arts in Technical Communication from Texas State University. (Professional Writing)

I currently teach 6th grade ELA. I have taught middle school grades for 5 years. I began my FSMS teaching career in January 2020. Previously, I taught 7th and 8th graders in Waco, Texas at Midway ISD and Waco ISD. My goal is to make sure every student feels welcome and supported in my class, virtual or in person.

I'm excited to have you in class this year!

Where is mrs. gonzales from?

I grew up in Waco, TX. Have you heard of Chip and Joanna from Fixer Upper? I grew up not too far from their home.

What does Mrs. Gonzales Like?

  • I like to craft! I have a Cricut at home and love to create things: shirts, framed art, and cards.
  • I like to play Nintendo Switch with my boys! They can't beat me!
  • I like to ride bikes and play soccer, and sing.
"You can't use up CREATIVITY. The more you use, the more you have" -Maya Angelou

I love my dogs! Chula (gray) and Molly (white) are both Chinese Crested dogs. Chula is called a hairy hairless and Molly is called a powderpuff. Typically, the hairless Chinese Crested should not have hair, but as you can see, Chula does! Molly is supposed to have long and fluffy hair, but she is happier when her hair is shorter. She gets hot!

Chula is 13 years old and Molly is 8.

My family

My husband and I have two boys. Max is 11 years old and in 6th grade. Ian is 7 years old and in 2st grade. My husband is a Biologist and when he is offshore, he gets to see beautiful sunrises and sunsets every morning. He also sees blue whales, dolphins, sharks, and sea turtles.

Mr. Gonzales' view from work. He spent the summer protecting the whales, dolphins, sharks, and sea turtles from the offshore drilling. Isn't the view beautiful?
Mr. Gonzales saw this shark near his ship!

I love to listen to music. It's hard to pick favorites! Some of my favorites include: Taylor Swift, Jason Mraz, Maroon 5, Lecrae, Fall Out Boy, Imagine Dragons, and Norah Jones. Fun fact: My first concert was N'Sync (when Justin Timberlake was in a band).

I love to read! My favorite books include: The Giver Quartet, The Hunger Games series, Ghost by Jason Reynolds, and Harry Potter. I also love to read historical fiction and nonfiction. One nonfiction book I love is called Night, by Eli Weisel. It's a personal account about Eli's experience in a concentration camp during WWII. You will have an opportunity to read these texts throughout your middle-school career.

Mrs. Gonzales' expectations for students:

I expect for you to gain a meaningful, collaborative learning experience and grow as a learner this school year. I am beyond excited to have each one of you in my class this year!
