Dayton Young Wood & metal craft

Hello, I'm Dayton. I've been inspired by the natural lines and patterns of wood since I was a kid. This has led me to roam Idaho's rural lands in search of the most interesting, and sometimes the largest, pieces of wood available. Keeping as much of their natural beauty has always been important to me. So, once I have the raw wood in my studio, I either dry it in a kiln, or let it sit in dry storage for two years. I then work with my clients to bring the best out of each piece, which often means keeping it as natural as possible.

This is a large oak table I recently built for Stoltz Marketing Group in downtown Boise. We left the live edge in the middle so their polycomm and power cords can be easily accessed.
My wood projects always start with either a tree trunk which I mill, or rough cut planks. I then hand sand and shape each piece to a client's desired look and specifications.
This is going to be a big table.
My trusted assistant finding inspiration in the natural grooves and lines of this old walnut.
Another finished table and lifelong treasure.

Thanks for checking out my work. I live and craft in Boise. So, if you'd like to talk about acquiring a live-wood table or bench for your home of office, please call, text or email me any time.
