This series of photos were taken in 2016, my first trip to southeast Alaska. The Sitka Spruce was a common subject in my mother's paintings so they have a special meaning to me.
Although Alaska is one of the most breathtaking places I've ever traveled to, it does have an air of loneliness and solitude that I've tried to translate within these pictures.
Even though the treatment of these images may give the viewer a sense of that loneliness and vastness that Alaska can have, these places seem to invite us into the landscape; to explore, but with caution.
