Rollins Women's Soccer vs. No. 9 Lee August 30, 2018

Rollins returns 22 players from the 2017 squad, as the Tars look to improve on a 4-9-2 record. Alicia Schuck will be looking to kick off her seventh season as the head coach of her alma mater with two wins against difficult competition. Rollins opens the year by hosting a pair of Gulf South Conference opponents. The Tars first 2018 contest is against the Lee Flames, the No. 9 ranked team in the first United Soccer Coaches National Poll.

The Tars return some key components from last year’s squad, including leading scorer Chynna McGirt. Now a sophomore, McGirt, will look to build a freshman campaign that saw her put in a pair of goals, and gain valuable experience. Kiera McMeekan will provide veteran leadership in the midfield. The senior has been named a team captain after scoring once and tallying one assist in 2017. The most decorated player on the pitch in the Blue and Gold is junior goal keeper Kelly Rowswell. The Windermere, Florida native is a two time First Team All-SSC performer, and a 2017 United Soccer Coaches All-Region honoree.

The Lady Flames enter 2018 looking for a fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance after a 17-4-2 season, and a Sweet 16 berth, in 2017. Lee has been tabbed third in GSC Preseason Poll, despite being the highest ranked team from the conference in the national poll. Riley Engels will look to take over the scoring load for Lee after the graduation of All-American Summer Lanter. Engles, now a junior, tallied eight goals and four assists during her sophomore campaign. Anna Lanter, who saw action in both the midfield and defense last season as a freshman, was named to the 2018 All-GSC Preseason Team. Lee is also welcoming 11 freshmen, who could look to make an immediate impact against the Tars.
