Saint Francis By:Francisco roca

Saint Francis of Assisi was born in Giovanni di Pietro di Bernardone in 1181 , his father was a merchant named Pietro Bernardone dei Moriconi, and he would call his son Francis as a nickname to France, a mature in culture that he had admired.

During his fourth crusade, God came to Francis in a bright light and told him to return home, Francis was humiliated but he did obey. Soon after he encountered a leopard, Francis was filled with compassion and gave the man a kiss for sign of peace. Suddenly the leopard was gone and Francis had concluded that God was actually testing him

His final conversions of becoming a priest was when Francis had visited a church called the Papal Basilica. He heard another call from God asking him to help him build the church. Francis thought he was suppose to help build the church he was praying in so he stole the money and cloth from his father to up do just that. In such rust ration his father marches to the bishop and sues Francis for the money! The bishop had Francis pay back the moment so, Francis renounced his inheritance and his family and then dedicated his life to supporting the poor. And I think that's what of the main reasons he became a saint because he chose to follow Gods word he even stole from his father for God and yet he still wanted to dedicate his life for the poor.

Francis was off, lived on the streets daily relying on God to provide. He met many people and helped many more, Francis became known for his compassion for others, some said he was actually able to talk to animals. Personally I believe it's true because if you look at any photo of Francis, there's some kind of animal in the picture symbolizing his endless compassion and his connection towards animals and people.

Francis of Assisi died on October 3, 1226, at the age of 44, in Assisi, Italy. Today, Francis has a lasting resonance with millions of followers across the globe. He was canonized as a saint just two years after his death, on July 16, 1228, by his former protector, Pope Gregory IX
