DON'T FORGET THE ACKNOWLEDGMENTS!

Acknowledgements are not just thank you notes. While acknowledgements enable to show your gratitude towards those who have contributed in carrying out the research, they are an important and required part to acknowledge the sources supporting your research. In fact, it is mandatory for some funding bodies such as the EU, Spanish Ministry, and CERCA. Here and example of the acknowlegment lines that should be included in all the communication and dissemination activities:

"This work was partially funded by the NAME OF THE FUNDING ENTITY through the Project ACRÓNIMO DEL PROYECTO (Número de expediente). The authors also acknowledge financial support from the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, through the "Severo Ochoa Programme for Centres of Excellence in R & D" (CEX2018-000797-S), and from the Generalitat de Catalunya through the CERCA Program."

RETOS INVESTIGACIÓN 2020

The provisional resolution of the Retos Investigación 2020 call has recently been published.

7 proposals were presented by CIMNE, of which 3 have been selected for funding:

• SMILE: Machine Learning for data-driven modeling. PI: Pedro Díez, Matteo Giacomini
• PASMA: Principles and Applications of Soil Mechanics for Anchoring offshore renewable energy installations. PI: Marcos Arroyo
• PRIMUS: Printing pattern based and MultiScale enhanced performance analysis of advanced Additive Manufacturing components. PI: Miguel Cervera y Narges Dialami

In total, 3,194 projects have been approved and 3,563 have been rejected, so our success rate is close to the average for this call.

EUROPEAN GREEN DEAL CALL H2020

The PIONEER project, "Portable Innovation Open Network for Efficiency and Emissions Reduction Solutions", PI: S. Saurí, has been selected for funding.

• MULTISCALE-COMPOSITE: Cutting-edge multiscale design of next generation composite laminates, submitted to M-ERA.NET Call 2021. PI: O. LLoveras.
• FLAWS: Fatigue Life Modelling and Assessment of Manufacturing Related Flaws and Defects of Titanium Laser Powder Bed Fusion Additive Manufacturing Components, submitted to M-ERA.NET Call 2021. PI: L. Barbu.
• PFERM: Ferm porós per mitigar inundacions i l'illa de calor, submitted to Convocatoria de Ayudas a Proyectos de Innovación Urbana (BIThabitat). P.I.: M.Sanz

NEW RESOURCES

• The PEICTI (Plan Estatal de Investigación Científica, Técnica y de Innovación ) 2021-2023 has been aproved.
• Horizon Europe will require extensive dissemination and exploitation activities (e.g open access, exploitation obligation, ,etc), get informed on the HE novelties with "Novelties of Horizon Europe on Dissemination & Exploitation (D&E)" presentation by the European IP Helpdesk
• The new Horizon Europe Programme Guide is available.
