Women in Economics is designed to provide economics majors with more opportunities to succeed, while also bringing awareness to the women who have chosen to study economics.
Each semester they host a variety of events. This upcoming year Women in Economics has some exciting new plans. In partnership with Omicron Delta Epsilon they are planning to begin two new programs within the economics department. Women in Economics is also planning to host an Economics Alumni Panel, an event where students can meet alumni and investigate their post undergrad options in terms of both further schooling and work.
Interviewing Anna Newmyer and Marcy Czopek they both talked about some of their favorite parts about being in Women in Economics. Anna talked about being a founding member. “My favorite part of being involved in Women in Economics is providing new and exciting opportunities to my fellow students and faculty. Being involved since the organization's founding has allowed me to generate new ideas and help my fellow board members guide the organization in different directions” said Anna.
“Although our roots are centered within Economics, our doors are always open to anyone in other male-dominated fields who feels they would benefit from and like to be a part of a larger support network for one another” Said Marcy.
