Copper and Silver nitrate single displacement

Albertus Magnus ( 1200 - Nov. 15,1280) first discovered silver-nitrate through alchemist experimenting
  • SIlver nitrate is an inorganic (manmade) compound. Sometimes colorless, or blue if given an exposure to light or another compound.
  • SIlver nitrate is used to prevent Neonatal conjunctivitis, which is the inflammation or infection of the outer membrane of the eyeball and the inner eyelid for new born babies.
  • It has changed the lives of mothers worldwide because if they happen to be infected with either Neisseria gonorrhoeae or Chlamydia trachomatis, than the baby's eyes are contaminated during passage through their birth canals

Jan Ingenhousz (December 8, 1730 – September 7, 1799) best known for showing that light is essential to photosynthesis and thus having discovered photosynthesis
  • Photosynthesis has a huge effect on humans for the better because it not only provides us with oxygen that we must breathe to live, but also supplies us with glucose by removing carbon from the air which also prevents severe climate change.
  • This reaction is naturally occurring on the microscopic scale and countless plants are going through this process this very second.
  • This reaction is sustainable and there are no ethical considerations for this reaction because it has an infinite amount of resources and does not cause harm by acquiring them.
  • The entire global community was and is still constantly being affected by photosynthesis because it keeps climate change worldwide from become worse than it was.

Propane combustion

Propane is a nonrenewable resource , and occurs in oil fields along with butane , and gasoline and can be easily extracted as a liquid.

The elements of combustion were discovered by Sir Benjamin Thompson in 1798, when dealing with thermochemistry.Combustion is basically burning elements, and in this burning process, the gases combine to form products.

Baking soda and vinegar

In 1791, famous French chemist Nicolas Leblanc (right) produced sodium bicarbonate also called as the soda ash. This discovery was refined by Alfred Bird (left). He discovered the modern variants baking powder and baking soda in 1843.
  • The reaction involved is Double displacement and the chemical formula is HC2H3O2 + NaHCO3 → NaC2H3O2 + H2O + CO2 .
  • This reaction is man made, although both materials are naturally made. The reaction itself is common in learning facilities all across the world to demonstrate simple chemical reactions.
  • occurs on the macro level
  • it is identified by smell and bubbles and has no ethical considerations

Aluminum oxide/oxygen (decomposition)

Sustainable : Yes, Aluminium Oxide is sustainable. Aluminium Oxide is bauxite, that are usually found in the tropical and subtropical regions of Latin America , Africa , and Australia.Around 50% of the electricity used to produce primary aluminium worldwide comes from environmentally-friendly hydroelectric power and other renewable ,non-polluting sources.

Process: Aluminium will burn in oxygen if it is powdered, otherwise the strong oxide layer on the aluminium tends to inhibit the reaction. If you sprinkle aluminium powder into a Bunsen flame, you get white sparkles. White aluminium oxide is formed.
