Catskill Regional CEO UPDATE

From the CEO

Catskill Regional Medical Center Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Schiller

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of meeting with community leaders representing large populations of summer visitors to our Catskill region, as well as the Hatzolah, MobilMedic, Law Enforcement and EMS officials who coordinate First Responder activities in our community. With gratitude, I share that their feedback of the experience and care provided by our Medical Center during our busiest season was excellent! Trips to the Emergency Department were quick and efficient, partly because the team in our Emergency Department tested a new concept for us, “Provider In Triage”. Inpatient, outpatient and ancillary services were frequented by our summer visitors, with great compliments to our staff for their compassion, expertise and friendly approach to patient care. Congratulations to all for a great summer!

As we turn the calendar and welcome autumn, we are reminded that flu season will be upon us sooner than we’d like. Please protect yourselves, patients, co-workers and families by getting a flu shot this month. Take time for yourself this month, enjoy the beauty of our Catskill Region as we welcome autumn and the wonderful opportunities presented to us for enjoying a healthy, outdoor lifestyle, festivals and activities.

Yours In Service,

Jonathan Schiller

Thank you!

Wine in the Garden Fundraiser

Catskill Regional Medical Center Facilities employee, Mike Ottino, was honored for nearly 40 years of service to CRMC, including maintenance of the Woodland Wildlings Garden, by Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Schiller and Wellness Coordinator Rebecca Quicksell.

The Catskill Regional Medical Center Foundation held a fundraising event for the enhancement the Woodland Wildlings Garden on September 13 at Catskill Regional. Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Schiller helped kick off the fundraiser by announcing his personal contribution to the event. Those who attended the Wine & Cheese in the Garden fundraising event enjoyed an evening of relaxation and celebration in all that the beautiful gardens have to offer. Facilities employee, Mike Ottino, was also honored for nearly 40 years of service to CRMC.

Through these fundraising efforts, the Catskill Regional Foundation hopes to expand and grow the gardens, back patio and walking trails to further provide comfort and tranquility for patients, visitors and employees. Leading the Way

Henry "Chip" Dunham

Henry "Chip" Dunham has been appointed as Administrator of Emergency Services. Chip has extensive experience as leader in both the pre-hospital and hospital-based Emergency departments. Beginning as an EMT in New York City in 1990, he worked his way to the Albany area, where he was responsible for EMS operations in a 7,500-seat arena. He served as the Chief Operating Officer of a rural ambulance service, and then became a division head for a large ambulance service. He earned his Associates Degree in Nursing in 2003 and began his nursing career in a Massachusetts Trauma Center, reaching the Clinical Manager position of the Emergency Department.

While leading the Emergency Department in Massachusetts, Chip earned his Baccalaureate Degree from Elms College. In 2010, Chip accepted a position at Catskill Regional in the Emergency Department, where he served as Clinical Director. During his time as ED Clinical Director, Chip oversaw the expansion and renovation of the ED. In 2012, Chip left to go to the Wilkes-Barre area where he served as the Director of Emergency Service for three Emergency Departments in a large healthcare system. We are fortunate to have Chip return to CRMC last year, where he served as one of our Administrative Directors of Nursing.
