RELAY FOR LIFE- American Cancer Society Alexis Arrington Fri- JOUR331

Relay For Life is a chance for communities to recognise and celebrate those who have overcome cancer or are undergoing treatment, as well as the people who care for them.
They often have people speak and share their story about cancer or how important Relay For Life is to them. This could be anyone: a survivor, fighter, sibling/relative of a loved one who is going through the battle of cancer, someone who is apart of the Relay For Life team, etc.
Each registered group is supposed to have at least one member of their group to be walking on the track at all times (24 hours). The purpose of this is to understand that cancer does not sleep and at Relay For Life they represent that on the track by always having someone walking.
Luminarias honor the memory of the loved ones we've lost, those currently in treatment, and those who've overcome cancer.
Many corporations come to Relay For Life- this is their way of showing their support and being active in the community.
Each Luminaria is dedicated to someone we hold close to our hearts. After the sun goes down, we illuminate the bags and take a moment to remember and reflect on each life the light represents.
