Internship Spotlight: Caleb Mahoney

Caleb Mahoney, a rising senior from Holliston, Mass., is spending the summer back home interning with Patrick Engineering, national leader in engineering, design and construction management. Mahoney is a civil engineering major who is a OSU Scholar-Athletic and Academic All-Big Ten honoree.

“I was pursuing an internship this summer that allowed me to get some real world experience in my field of study. I was fortunate enough to be given an opportunity with Patrick Engineering to work alongside the MBTA on the Red & Orange Line Improvement Program. This allowed me to work in my home city of Boston on a large scale project. It was exactly what I was looking for.”

About Patrick Engineering

Patrick provides full service program management, including project budgeting, cost estimating, scheduling, logistics planning, procurement management, progress tracking and issue identification and resolution. The Red Line and Orange Line Infrastructure Improvements Program is a $850 million project.

Mahoney on what he’s learned so far:

“I have learned so much about what goes into a construction project. It requires multiple teams and countless people working in unison to accomplish even the smallest part of the job. I have enjoyed working in the mix of it all and am excited to continue learning for the rest of the summer.”

Mahoney on how this experience will help in the long run:

“The experience I will have gained reading plans, sitting in on meetings, working with different teams and so much more will help me in my future career. This internship is helping me grow the foundation to which I can build upon after I graduate.”
