The book of their eyes were watching god is about Janie Starks trying to find herself and love and it reveals that she found it at last this theme is evident through the character Janie starks got married twice and ran away twice this event was like in a forest

  • "Janie saw her life a great tree in leaf with the things suffered, things enjoyed, things done and undone. Dawn and doom was in the branches." (Chapter 2)
  • "Every morning the world flung itself over and exposed the town to the sun." (chapter 6)
  • "The years took all the fight out of Janie's face. For a while she thought it was gone from her soul."

"Love is like the sea. It's a moving thing , but still and all it takes its shape from the store it meets and it's different with every shore.

Well this describes Janie in different ways because she's just looking for love and not for someone to like her for her looks
