Galley Hill Primary School Newsletter 13th September 2019

Welcome to the 'new look' newsletter. Hopefully it will develop over time and you can see all the wonderful things that are happening here at Galley Hill Primary School.

Year 2

Year 2 are looking at writing a newspaper article over the next couple of weeks. It looks like they certainly have something to write about:

It was great to see Nursery being Engineers and building bridges this week. After looking at bridges from China, they have created some amazing bridges. I look forward to seeing what is happening with bridges in Nursery next week!

Cross Country

It was great to see all of Key Stage 2 getting ready and warmed up for their timings in cross country this week. I look forward to finding out who will be representing the school.

Rewards System

We will be introducing House Points from Monday. These will be awarded for going over and above our usual expectations at Galley Hill. To go with this, I am holding a competition to name each House. My aim is to name them with a local theme, although all suggestions are welcome. There will be a box at the office to collect suggestions. There will be 4 houses. If you would like the chance to name each House for Galley Hill, please make sure you get your suggestions in by the end of the school day on Wednesday, making sure you include your own name.

Head Boy/Head Girl

This year will see the new and exciting role of Head Boy/Girl and Deputy Head Boy/Girl. These roles are designed to be something to aspire to. There is a rigorous application process in which children will write a letter of application, followed by an interview with the Senior Leadership Team within school. I look forward to letting you all know the successful candidates in the next couple of weeks.

PE Kits

PE kits will be going home weekly. If you could ensure that they come back ready for the next PE lesson that would be greatly appreciated.

New Marske Harriers

New Marske Harriers club have been in contact to let us know they currently have places available for young athletes un Years 4,5 and 6. If you would like to give running, jumping and throwing a go on a Thursday 6pm-7pm at Lawrence Jackson school then please register via the New Marske Harriers website or e-mail the coaches at Paul.Minnows@gmail.com for more information.

Aldi Kit for Schools

Aldi’s Kit for Schools promotion is giving 20 primary schools the chance to win £20,000 to kick-start a health legacy for their school. Every school who enters by completing their Aldi’s Kit for Schools poster will also receive an exclusive school sports kit. If anyone has any stickers we will be collecting them and the can be dropped off at the office, we need at least 300.

Secondary School

These deadlines come around quicker than we all think. Completed applications must be made by no later than the published closing date of 31 October 2019. All details for this can be found on the admission pages on the Redcar and Cleveland admission website.

Scooters and Bikes

It is great to see so many people coming to school on their scooters and bikes. To keep everybody safe on the school premises, please can you ensure that all children are off these once they enter the main schools gates. Thank you for your support in advance for this.

Tuck Shop

The tuck shop will be back up and running on Monday.

Have a fantastic weekend and look forward to seeing you all next week for another busy week full of learning and new challenges.
