France Tour 2019 PARIS-angers

The tour to Paris and Angers was a fantastic end to the 2018-2019 academic year, giving the choir a chance to introduce its sound to a wider audience whilst enjoying the delights of French culture and cuisine.

After kicking off the tour with a Eurostar into Paris, we enjoyed the hospitality of the American Cathedral in Paris, joining their choir for the weekend services (and sampling some of the complimentary cuisine afterwards)

We took refuge from the sweltering heat in beautiful concert venues...

...where we were treated to sublime acoustics and enthusiastic audiences.

It was wonderful to see our hard work pay off, with audiences growing in number as Paris awakened to the English choral sound...

...but we always found time to relax and take in some of the city's rich cultural heritage.

After finishing our concerts in Paris, we enjoyed a day in Versailles...

...where some of us blew off steam on the lake in true Cambridge style.

Having completed our stay in Paris, we hit the road and travelled to the historic ciy of Angers

Alongside more concerts, the choir took a trip to L'Abbaye de Fontevraud...

...and after a final concert in Angers, returned to Cambridge bearing the generous gift of a statue of one of our foundresses, Margaret of Anjou.

Many thanks to the choir's hosts and supporters without whom the tour would not have been possible, and a special thanks for Blandine, our Senior Organ scholar, who was singlehandedly responsible for organising far more of the tour than she should have been!
