2016 saw me take an absolute ton of pictures from personal athlete shoots including a bunch of new and fun sports, University of Tennessee football, basketball, baseball, and volleyball, to traveling the US to places like the Roan Highlands (title picture), Outer Banks, and Aspen, Colorado. The year has definitely been exciting and fun that's for sure.
The new year started out with a trip to Tampa, FL to shoot the Tennessee Volunteers and Northwestern Wildcats at the Outback Bowl on New Years Day.
Tennessee put a large whooping on Northwestern 45-6 and it was an incredible experience to be there and record the action with my buddy James Knox.
April found me with my brother, Jim, Chris Nitz, Travis Rhoads, RJ Wilner, Curt Fleenor, and Ron Williams at the Outer Banks for four days of extremely fun photography and friendship. We came away with some incredible images and a bunch of fun.
When June comes along so does my annual trip to the Roan Highlands to photograph Rhododendron and Flaming Azaleas with the majestic bald mountains and their surroundings.
Got a bit creative with some dance photography with my niece Randi where we coated her with flour and had her do dance jumps, leaps, and turns and let the lights do their magic of capturing it all. These did so well I did another set of them with Abbi Starcher a couple months later. Both turned out incredible.
2016 saw me take portraits of new and different things like my photo shoot with Erika Schmidt for her race team and career. So many new and cool things that I was lucky enough to photograph this past year.
Another new shoot was a fitness shoot with Kaci Nichols and Micha Trevathan in Camden, TN on Labor Day weekend.
Shot the sport of tennis for the first time with Sequoyah's Lauren Barone. This was a lot of fun and we got some really neat images.
By far the newest and neatest sport I had the opportunity to photograph this past year had to be swimming with Madison (pictured above doing the breast stroke) and Logan Wright. So much unknown before hand turned into an incredible photo shoot. Already mentioned to their parents about doing some more of these.
Another new and extremely fun photo shoot was motocross with Cassie Belcher. We braved the heat and the dust but had a ball at the track.
October brought one of the best photography trips I've ever taken. Joining fellow photogs Rick Louie, Chris Nitz, Mike Criswell, and James Knox in Aspen, CO for some of the most incredible landscapes I've ever seen with bright yellow Aspen Trees covering everything. Snowmass, Crested Butte, and Rocky Mountain National Park just left me amazed and in aw every corner we turned like the jewel of the trip, Maroon Bells above.
All in all 2016 has been a complete blast for me and my photography. This didn't include my new gig with The Ledger to shoot UT football this past fall. Hopefully 2017 will bring even more for me as a photographer and help me grow and be more creative. Gonna be hard to beat 2016 though.
