Bread of Life Our Savior Hawaii Online Sunday School

Welcome to Our Savior Hawaii's Online Sunday School! There are soooo many types of bread in the world...What is your favorite kind of bread (toast, pizza crust, cinnamon rolls, cornbread, etc.)? Today, we hear Jesus say, "I am the bread of life." Let's explore what that means!

  • What was the best moment of the last week for you? The worst?
  • How did you see God at work in the last week? What is your God sighting?

John 6:35 CSB: “I am the bread of life,” Jesus told them. “No one who comes to me will ever be hungry, and no one who believes in me will ever be thirsty again."

We see signs all around us every day. As we walk down the halls at school, we may see signs that tell the different rooms in the school such as the cafeteria, office, library, computer lab, or music room. Each classroom probably has a sign by the door with the teacher's name on it, so students will be able to find their classrooms.

When we travel around our town, we see signs that tell us what we should or should not do. Below you'll see some pictures of some signs that you probably see every day. Let's see how many of them you know.

Our lesson today is about signs of a different kind--not a sign you can touch, but something that would prove to people that Jesus really was sent by God. People wanted a sign. They had found Jesus and asked HIm "Show us a miraculous sign if you want us to believe in you. What can you do? After all, Moses gave our ancestors bread from heaven to eat when they were in the wilderness. Can you do that?" Jesus replied that He is the bread of life and that whoever came to Him would never be hungry and thirsty anymore. We need bread and food for life. We need Jesus for eternal life.

What does Jesus say he is? When Jesus says he is the Bread of Life, what do you think he means? Why do you think Jesus calls Himself the Bread of Life? How does Jesus provide for life here on earth and life for eternity?

Let's try to bake some bread ourselves! You can click here for how to bake bread or use a recipe of your own choosing. As you eat your bread, thank God for providing for our life here on earth and life forever in heaven.

What was your favorite part? How was making bread hard? How was it easy?

Pray + Bless

Pray: Jesus, you are the Bread of Life. For me. For us. For the whole world. With you, we will never be hungry or thirsty. Thanks be to God! Amen.

Make the sign of the cross on the forehead of each person in your family and say, "Jesus is the bread of life who gives you eternal life."
