CCS at the 24 Challenge Competition

On Friday, May 19th - and for the first time ever - four CCS students in grades 4th-7th competed in the 24 Challenge Competition Tournament held at the Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU).

Our students performed admirably and adjusted quickly to the pace of the competition. Brian McCoy (6th grade) even honored himself and CCS by winning a bronze medal in the variables round. Join us in congratulating the four students for a job well done!

Brian McCoy (top left), Eesha Jadhav (top right), Maia Rissi (bottom left), and Adarsh Kabekkodu (bottom right).

The object of the original single digits card game is to make the number 24 from the four numbers listed on each game card. Players can add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Players can use all four numbers on the card, but each number can only be used once. Learn more about how to play the 24 Game by watching the tutorial video below.

Playing the 24 Game provides children with an opportunity to develop pattern sensing, problem-solving, and mental math skills. In addition, the CCIU's 24 Challenge Competition Tournament also offers a common ground for learning, communicating, and embracing the spirit of competition.

Alex's Lemonade Stand at CCS

On Friday, June 2nd, for our 13th year in a row, Alex’s Lemonade Stand (ALS) is back at CCS from 9:00am until 3:00pm. This year’s event is held in honor of CCS student, Jaxon Ford, who battled Retinoblastoma (now in remission). Learn more about Jaxon's battle by viewing the video below.

The CCS ALS stands will be located at both the 150 and 500 buildings. We will be selling soft pretzels and cups of lemonade for $1.00 each and all members of the surrounding community are invited to attend the CCS ALS stands.

Students in the 468 Building are able to participate, too, as pretzels and lemonade will be sold during their lunch periods. All proceeds are donated to the ALS Foundation and benefit childhood cancer research.

Can’t attend the event? Access the link below to make online donations from our ALS fundraising webpage. The current online goal is $2,000 and we are confident the CCS Community will quickly surpass that total.

Questions? Please email Mrs. Morganstern.
