Meaning of the Name of the Festival:

It is derived from the friendly greeting "Madayaw", from the Dabawenyo word "dayaw", meaning good, valuable, superior or beautiful.

It is celebrated every third week of August

How do they celebrate it?

It is celebrated through having a festival,then having a dance then they do a ritual.

It serves as their thanksgiving to the gods particularly to the "Manama" (the Supreme Being) and Bulan (a moon deity).

It is to celebrate life,and for thanksgiving to the gifts given by nature,and the bounties of harvest and serenity living.
