Either or fallacy - the suggestion that only two alternatives exist when in fact there are more . 1. The teacher said ' put your phone up or go to the office ' . 2. My mom said that I could do the dishes or I am grounded.
Force and Fear - Persuade the audience to except the conclusion 1. Putin said that Russia would go to war with the United States if Hillary wins Putin has said, “If Hillary Clinton wins, it’s war!” 2.
Band wagon Appeal - A claim that an idea should be accepted because a large number of people favor it or believe in it to be true . 1. Many people think that Chevy is better than Ford. 2. Commercial argues that "everyone" likes Mcdonalds
False analogy - the assumption that because two things are alike in some respects . 1. Teenagers are up to no good - they are out after dark, and they are wearing dark clothes and baggy pants. 2. People who cannot go without their coffee every morning are no better than alcoholics.
Red Herring - an argument that focus on a relevent issue to distract attention from the real issue. 1. Instead of answering the question the girl in the beauty pageant just said ' World Peace ' . 2. While in the election Hillary would sometimes talk about her books or her websites .
