Note from Mr Higginbottom

Hello! It has been a great week of learning at our school this week! I have enjoyed spending time in lessons and seeing our children learning well. I will be working with our teachers in the coming weeks to help children to see more clearly how they can achieve in each lesson and help them to make the best possible progress. I'm really looking forward to seeing children grow further as resilient, independent learners.

The school leadership team is a newly-formed team. With myself as the head teacher and Mrs Cunningham as deputy, Mrs McArdle and Mr Tasker are in role as Assistant Head teachers. Their current focus is to help our teachers to develop a really engaging curriculum for all children. The leadership team will soon be enhanced by our own full-time SENDCO. I will let you know as soon as possible who this will be.

To further strengthen the leadership of our school, I have created phase leader roles in school. These teachers co-ordinate the work of teachers and staff in their phase of school. In the coming weeks, each phase leader and I will hold a meeting for parents where we will let you know the expectations for children in each phase and give you an opportunity to ask questions. The first of these meetings will be for children in the foundation stage - where Miss Gray is the phase leader. This meeting will take place on Monday 27th September at 5pm in the school hall. To avoid overcrowding, one parent from each family (of children in the foundation stage only) is invited to this meeting, without children.

Our other phase leaders and I will hold phase meetings over the next few weeks. The phase leaders are: Foundation Stage - Miss Gray; Key stage 1 - Mrs Cox; Lower Key stage 2 - Mr Tasker; Upper Key stage 2 - Mrs McArdle.

Harvest Assemblies

Father Christopher Barley will join us in school for Harvest assemblies on Monday 18th October 2021. We hope that children will enjoy celebrating the time of year in school together.

Music and Drama

I'm really excited to let you know that Mrs Parr will resume Music and Drama after October half term! Watch out for a letter closer to half term to invite children to this after school club.

INSET Days and Holidays

Just a reminder that we have TWO INSET days coming up - Friday 22nd October and Monday 1st November are staff training days. That means that children finish for the October half term break on Thursday 21st October and return to school on Tuesday 2nd November.

The autumn term ends on Friday 17th December. Children return to school after Christmas on Tuesday 4th January 2022.

Have a brilliant weekend - we'll see you next week. Thank you for supporting the school.
