BIO
I’m Xochitl Quetzalli Cruz from Cudahy, Los Feliz, Orcutt, and Glassell Park. I don’t have many constants in my life, but photography and storytelling have always stuck with me. What I like the most about photography is how much power you hold. Photos have the ability to empower and tell stories of people and places that often get ignored. With Las Fotos I explore my identity as a brown teenage girl, the ins and outs of photography, and how I can help empower other girls. I make art because it is a freedom of expression for me and a way I can take little snapshots of my life, and treasure them forever (also giving me an excuse to travel). I primarily shoot street photography and sub-genres similar - streetwear, skateboarding, ancestral food, and beauty - all subjects that are close to me and play an important part in communities of color (which I like to focus on).
