Kennedy Kindness Retreat january 27, 2017

On January 27, the entire 5th grade class at Kennedy Elementary went on a one-day Kindness Retreat.

The day began with a welcome and activity to get everyone moving and comfortable.

The purpose of this time together was to have a high-energy day to give students tools to develop empathy, promote kindness and prevent bullying. The leaders from Youth Frontiers, together with our Kennedy staff, worked to empower the students to be “everyday heroes” by using kindness to include others, be respectful and make our school a better place.

MSCR East donated the meeting space, Youth Frontiers facilitated the event, and Kennedy alumni that currently attend La Follette High School served as mentors.
Students continued to build relationships with Kennedy alumni mentors and teachers throughout the day.

This was Kennedy’s first time offering this special time away for our 5th grade team, and it was a huge success! We are so fortunate to have the wonderful MSCR East location so close to our school, and with such a welcoming staff. Thank you!
