The God Who Sees Series, November 22, 7:00 p.m.-8:30 p.m., Jubilee Hall: Join us as we gather in person for education, inspiration, and discussion of a topic central to our church's mission work: Equity & Empowerment. There will be theological reflection (why does this matter to our faith), spoken word from special guest Hannah Hasan, and local experts Justin Perry and Leondra Garrett will provide context for this issue within Charlotte. New - Purchase Poinsettias and Wreaths to Decorate the Church, now-December 13: Purchase a poinsettia or wreath to decorate the church in honor or memory of a loved one. Poinsettias are $14 each and wreaths are $30 each. Click here to order online, or send a check to the church along with the name of the person you are honoring/remembering. Dedications will be shared in the December 19 worship bulletin.

New - Advent with Kids: Author Book Signing, November 28 and December 5, 9:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m.: Church member and author Wendy Wallace-Wright will sign copies of her new book, Advent with Kids, in the lobby of the Parish Life Building. Books will be available for purchase in Goodness Gracious.

New - Advent Small Groups, November 29-December 23, varying times: Prepare for the true spirit of Christmas by joining one of our clergy-led small group studies. A special setting and printed materials will be available to guide you in a walk of preparation for Christmas. Pre-Order Your Christmas Tree, Wreath or Garland, while supplies last: Then pick up your tree from the youth December 2-3. Due to a growing shortage, we have fewer trees this year. If you don’t see the size tree you need, please consider buying a smaller one or wreaths and garland. All proceeds this year will go to the Hope is Here capital campaign. Click here to purchase.

New - Music Ministry Christmas Concert, December 5, 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., First United Methodist Church, 501 N. Tryon Street: Join us in person for this wonderful Christmas tradition. The concert will feature our MPUMC Music Ministry Choirs, handbells and orchestra. A shuttle service will run between MPUMC and FUMC from 3:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. No reservations or tickets are required.

New - Service of Hope and Consolation, December 6, 6:30 p.m., Sanctuary: This service is for all who seek solace and hope from our many losses this past year. Join us in person or virtually here.

New - Marie G. Davis Christmas Wishlist, now until December 3: Marie G. Davis has identified families at their school who could use a little extra help and love this Christmas. If you are interested in purchasing a gift for one or more of the children in these families, please click here for specific instructions and to sign up. Please drop off your gifts in the Parish Life Building lobby Monday through Thursday between 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Purchase an Advent Wreath Kit While Supplies Last: Kits are $15, and a portion of the proceeds will support Missions’ Merry Market program. New - Children’s Ministries’ Outdoor Movie Night, December 10, 5:30 p.m.-7:00 p.m., Parish Life Building Parking Lot: Families, you're invited to an outdoor screening of A Charlie Brown Christmas. Bring chairs and a picnic dinner. Ben and Jerry’s hot chocolate truck will be onsite for you to purchase a warm beverage. New - Kneeling at the Manger, December 12, 4:00 p.m., Hopedale Parking Lot: Join us for this annual service of story and song. Children may dress as their favorite nativity character. Please bring chairs for your family to sit in.

Goodness Gracious: Tis the season to be shopping! With Christmas approaching, Christmas inventory has begun to roll out in Goodness Gracious. Some of our favorite new items include peppermint scented lotion, flameless votive candles, gold reindeer napkin rings, and fairy twinkle lights! Not sure what to get someone this holiday season? We offer gift cards! Goodness Gracious is open Sunday-Thursday 9:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

More Events and Opportunities

Room In The Inn Returns: After a year off, Room In the Inn is returning to churches around our city! Because we do not have access to our former space in the Youth Building, we will partner with our across-the-alley neighbor Myers Park Presbyterian to host Wednesday nights in their Outreach Center. We still plan to host 12 guests and provide a meal, a safe place to gather and sleep, showers, and fellowship. There are several different ways to get involved in this ministry.
