Our Online Photo Galleries

Do you want to see what life is like at Fork Union Military Academy? One great way to keep in visual touch with the Academy is by visiting our online photo galleries located at http://photos.forkunion.com.

There you will find almost a quarter-million photos (a bit over 234,000 images at last count) organized in galleries by month and school year, dating back over the past decade. We publish more than 20,000 images per school year, covering special events, games, ceremonies, and daily life on campus.

Our online photo galleries are hosted by Smugmug, one of the internet's oldest and best photo hosting/sharing providers. You can share your favorite photo links on your social media feeds, subscribe to an RSS feed to stay updated on recent uploads, and purchase any size photo print, or photo merchandise such as coffee mugs, mouse pads, and more...all featuring your selected photo.

Navigation Menu

The photo galleries are very easy to navigate. The main menu has only four items from which to choose:

  • Home
  • Current School Year
  • Past School Years
  • Search

Selecting "Current School Year" takes you to a page with folders by month. Clicking on a folder will display all the available photo galleries for that month.

Selecting "Past School Years" will let you choose any academic year in the past decade. You can then browse the folders by month to locate the gallery you want to view.

There is also a "Search" link that will let you type in keywords to look for gallery titles, phrases in the gallery description, or text that might appear in photo captions or tags.

Like, Share, and Buy Photos

See a photo that you want to buy? Think that picture of your cadet would make a great coffee mug, poster, or mouse pad? Just click on the "Buy Photos" link to select and customize your photo merchandise.

Share great photos with your friends on social media by clicking on the "Like" or "Tweet" buttons at the top of the page, or by sharing a link to an individual photo or photo gallery.

Mr. Reynolds Goes to Washington

Kevin Reynolds, Jr., a Fork Union Military Academy alumnus of the Class of 1990, has been named as chief of staff for U.S. Rep. Tom Garrett in Washington, DC. Congressman Garrett was sworn in on Tuesday of this past week to represent the 5th Congressional District of Virginia in the United States House of Representatives.

Reynolds served as Garrett's chief of staff in the Virginia Senate, the seat Garrett held until his election this past November to the U.S. Congress. Reynolds grew up in Orange and graduated from Fork Union Military Academy in 1990. He attended the College of William & Mary, earning his B.A. in History. Reynolds now resides with his wife and children in Greene County. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army and is a professional skydiving instructor. He can often be seen parachuting in to NASCAR races and sporting events as part of the opening ceremonies.

Reynolds is a familiar figure at Fork Union Military Academy, having made many parachute drops into our stadium for football games and parades, as seen in the video below from

Guidance Department to Lead College Road Trip to University of Richmond

The Guidance Department will be sponsoring a visit to the University of Richmond on Friday, January 27th, a stop on our “College Road Trips”. We are working on scheduling a trip to Virginia Commonwealth University for next month. These trips are advertised well in advance, and cadets from any grade level are invited to sign-up. Space on the bus is limited, so priority is typically given to our upper classmen. These trips to college campuses provide our cadets a great opportunity to learn about what colleges are seeking in their applicants. They also provide them the opportunity to experience a bit of college culture.

There is much to be accomplished during these remaining months of school. A paramount goal of the Guidance Department heading into the new year is to make sure that ALL of our seniors gain college acceptance. As a school, we are very proud of our record of achieving a 100% acceptance rate for our seniors.

As of this date, 64% of the class has been accepted into at least one college or university. Many of these cadets have been accepted into several schools. Ms. Jenny Payne, our College Placement Officer, along with so many other Academy personnel, is spending countless hours helping our cadets reach their goals. We celebrate each achievement. Next time you are on campus, stop by the lobby of Hatcher Hall to check out the college acceptance bulletin board. You can also view the acceptances on our website highlighted in the top banner on the admissions pages.
