Club Handbook 2018

In the summer of 2015 a group of likeminded cyclists got together through social media to form Salford Cycling Club. For a long time Salford has been the one part of Greater Manchester lacking a cycling club, which was the purpose for starting the club.

Salford C.C Group ride

Groups

A GROUP Social ride it always has a cafe stop and a NO DROP policy. Rides are between 30 and 40 miles depending on weather conditions. This ride goes at the pace of the slowest rider.

B GROUP Rides are for the more experienced group riders, these rides are of a longer distance and may contain tough terrain and have a higher average ride speed. 35 to 45 miles for hilly rides & 40 to 60 miles for mostly flat rides. Whilst we try not to drop anyone there are some instances where this could happen. May or may not have a cafe stop

C GROUP Rides are for the very experienced cyclist. Rides are faster, longer and are usually tough terrain.

Your experience and fitness level should be considered when looking at what group to join

Club rules

Club Rules

Headphones must not be used on group rides.

The Highway Code must be followed.

You should be aware of the hand signals used in group riding ( if you don't know them please ask before we set off )

The use of a hand held mobile device for taking selfies whilst in motion on the bike is not allowed within the groups.

TT bikes are not allowed on group rides, Tri bars must be removed from Tri bikes when riding in a group.

Full length mud guards must be used from 31 October until first day of spring. We also advise mud flaps.

Everyone should carry a spare tube / repair kit / pump / tools & enough food & drink for the ride.

You should be able to get yourself or organise getting home in the event of getting lost, dropped (B/C rides) or for a none repairable mechanical.

We expect everyone to remember that their actions on the road reflect on the club.

If your are under the age of 16 then you must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to ride with Salford C C

The rules are for the safety and enjoyment of all club members whilst group riding.

The routes we use are adaptable and may change due to certain factors like road works, road closures, weather or the number of riders for the group.

We remind everyone that the club has an annual membership fee of £12 and once you have done a couple of rides with us then the membership MUST be applied for and paid. We highly recommend joining British Cycling (Bronze is FREE for one year for new members) or any other recognised Cycling body.

Please remember that everyone involved with SCC do so as volunteers and we are always looking for people to help out with running the club, if you can help in anyway please contact any member of the committee.
