COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

COMMUNITY PRESERVATION REMINDER ON YARD MAINTENANCE

All the spring rain we have received coupled with the coming warm weather means our lawns, trees, and shrubs are primed for growth. Now is the time to trim those lawns, hedges, and trees. Overgrown vegetation does not just look unsightly, but it provides a habitat for rodents and can provide fuel for fires as it dries out. If you see a particularly bad case, you can report it to us at RequestTracker or by calling (626) 285-5240.

PARKS AND RECREATION

VIRTUAL RECREATION CENTER

The Parks and Recreation Department launched the City's Virtual Recreation Center (VRC) on Friday, April 10th. The VRC is your go-to resource for staying active and engaged. While you and your family remain safe at home, we’ve found creative activities, from fitness classes and STEM activities to virtual tours and online storytimes.

ARBOR DAY 2020

Arbor Day is Friday, April 24, 2020 and the City is celebrating with a poster contest! Youth ages 3-17 years are eligible for this free contest highlighting this year's theme, "My Community, My Trees." Winners of the poster contest will have their artwork displayed on the City's website on Arbor Day. For more information please visit www.templecity.us/vrc.

NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK

National Volunteer Week, April 19-25, 2020, is an opportunity to celebrate the impact of volunteer service in Temple City. The Parks and Recreation Department will be recognizing our volunteers with a slideshow and placing a spotlight on their invaluable contributions to the community.
