Why is a healthy diet important?

  • May reduce risk for heart disease including heart attack and stroke
  • Protects against certain types of cancers
  • Reduce the risk of developing kidney stones
  • Helps decrease bone loss
  • Helpful to lower calorie intake
  • Helps prevent obesity, diabetes and high blood pressure

What are consequences of a healthy diet?

  • Allows your body to function better
  • You'll feel more awake
  • You'll have more energy because your body isn't trying to run on sugar & fat
  • Likely to reduce rick of some chronic diseases

What are consequences of not eating a healthy diet?

  • Can cause obesity
  • Can cause type 2 diabetes
  • High cholesterol
  • Eating disorders
  • Can be a factor to some cancers
  • Can cause depression

How can eating a healthy diet affect my ability to live a healthy and balanced life?

If I did not eat somewhat of a healthy diet I would not be able to do the things I do today. I won't be able to play soccer. I've been playing soccer for 9 years. If not eating healthy would take that away from me I would be so devastated. It is important that I continue to get physical activity in throughout the year to stay fit. I want to live as long as I can without complications, so eating healthy is the way to go.
