Making Boris An overview...

Boris is a much loved cat, his owner wanted his essence to be captured in wool.
Beginning with dying the alpaca ...
Blending the coloured fibre ...
Resin eyes were created and polished...
On to the base needle felting, over the wire armature framework to add the initial colour of alpaca...
Oh dear the ugly duckling stage, setting the eyes and needling the under colours
A handful of head, it's important keep working the wool down ready for reverse felting the coat ...
More fibres, variety of colour blends for the layers.
The beginning of tiny ears, it always amazes me how much longer it takes to create the little parts ...
Oh there's the beginning a face...
Just having a chill on the shelf, initial reverse felting started...
Ready to start again, there is something therapeutic about reverse felting... Just the hairy mess we don't like tidying up...😮
Base drawing done on the iPad, but the felting needs more definition...
Horse hair whiskers attached...
Including his eyebrows
Almost ready to go, just a final trim needed ...
Not forgetting about the tiny paws too...

The wire armature frame allows a variety of poses ...
