Man Ray is noted for his work with photograms, which he called "rayographs" in reference to himself
worked for Hollywood due to the second world war
couldn't find camera type, lenses and filters, but from a self portrait I found of him with a view camera, I can guess that he used large format view cameras for some of his photos.

Emmanuel Radnitzky was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in on August 27, 1890. The Radnitzky family changed their last name to Ray in 1912. Since Emmanuel's nickname was Manny, he changed his first name to Man, and that's how he became Man Ray.

With Man Ray, you were free to do what your imagination conjured, and that kind of encouragement was wonderful." — Artist and photographer, Naomi Savage, Man Ray's niece and protégée, in a 2000 newspaper interview.
