Need to Know
There are many different types of animal cruelty that we aren't even aware of yet it still takes place everyday and is causing great deals of damage to animals and their rights to live a happy and peaceful life, like they deserve. One type of animal cruelty is dog fighting, this is when an animal is forced to fight against another animal for money or even entertainment and it can cause animals to act out violently and suffer from physical injuries, usually spurred from isolation and poor care, living their lives on short, heavy chains. When the dogs fight is often to the death, and if the dog does not die it succumbs to its injuries or is killed off by its owner, sometimes the execution of a dog is made as an example or display for others to watch. Dog fighting is illegal in all 50 states yet it continues to occur at any location in any community. It has been estimated that hundreds of thousands of dogs are fighting, training and suffering every year from this big epedemic. The problem doesn't stop there, sometimes animal cruelty is disguised by cute baby animals- animal mills. Let's start with what is a puppy mill? The problem with this is the owners of puppy mills don't take into consideration the animals well being, but rather how much they can make, they don't consider and genetic problems that may occur. It is near impossible to track or know how many puppy mills there are. ASPCA has estimated that there could be as many as 10,000 puppy mills in the United States alone. The issue keeps going, animal hoarding occurs often when an individual tries to house more animals than he or she can care for. Animal hoarding encompasses mental health, animal welfare and it is seen as a public safety concern. Animal hoarding is when the owner cannot appropriately take care of all their animals and provide them with the right diets and care that a pet needs. It is estimated that there
