Biskop Svanes veg 1 • 6914 Svanøybukt

The island only has around 40 residents, yet Svanøy Handel (grocery shop) and Svanøy Kro (pub) stay open all year round. In the summer months our business hours are extended and food is served every day. You can dive in to our wide selection of flavours from Kinn to Honolulu, try Sunnfjord's best burger or rent a bike and explore the island.

Svanøy Kro

We believe in using local resources. Our menu mainly consists of ingredients from Svanøy Røykeri (Svanøy Smokery) and Norsk Hjortesenter (Norwegian Deer Centre). We pick the wild garlic in the spring so you can enjoy it any time! We host a variety of events throughout the year, stay updated on our facebook page.

Svanøy Handel

Svanøy Handel is a small shop with a rich selection. You'll find everything from gluten free spaghetti to fishing rods, and products from Norsk Hjortesenter and Svanøy Røykeri.

Marina

The marina in Svanøybukt has electric outlets and water right on the floating dock. In the 24-hour service building you'll find toilets, showers, a washing machine and a tumble dryer. Free wi-fi at Svanøy Kro.

Accommodation

We can offer you accommodation in a holiday flat above the shop with 2 bedrooms and 5 beds. There's a living room, brand new kitchen, internet and a sunny veranda with a view of the bay.

Bikes and kayaks

A scenic trip around the island is well worth experiencing whether you choose to do it by land or by sea. We have 8 kayaks and around 8 bikes for rent. Please contact us for more information or to make a reservation.

Discover Svanøy

Norsk Hjortesenter -A national centre of knowledge for developing deer as a resource. In the deer park you may come in close contact with reed deer, and will learn more about them by taking part on our guided tour.

Galleri Svanøe -The art gallery is open most of the summer and by appointment. If you have any questions, please contact Bjarne Svanøe +47 905 08 773.

Svanøy Hovedgård -Svanøy Estate Manor was owned by Bjørgvin bishop until the Reformation, upon which it became crown lands until 1662 and then a dairy farm. Hans Thiis Nagel, bailiff for Sunnfjord and Nordfjord, made major changes to the farm in the 18th century. Then, in 1804, the followers of Hans Nielsen Hauge moved in and enlarged the farm, and it has remained unchanged since. The buildings were listed in 1924 and a special foundation was set up to restore the buildings in 1972. Directly opposite the main farm is a graveyard with its large stone cross, dating back to ca. 1000 and one of four featuring runes in Norway.

Svanøy Røykeri -Traditional cold smoked salmon. Recipes with juniper and local herbs give the salmon its unique and exquisitely mild flavour.

The island has many great hiking trails. You can use the map below or pop by the shop for a free printed one.
