Oh Te Henga! Chronicling my visit to Bethell's Beach

Hello! My name is Rajeev Nedumaran. I like visiting the different surfing spots around Auckland and documenting the surfing action there. This is the story of my visit to Te Henga or Bethell's Beach, a popular surfing spot on the Waitakere Ranges. I have always wanted to come out here to check out the action. I was not disappointed!

I am a great fan of the photographer, Rambo Estrada and his wave photographs. I always attempt some from the beach! I probably should learn swimming and venture out into the water to get a different perspective, I suppose! :-)

The beach is a beehive of activity. Dogs, humans, surfers, football...everything is happening here!!

Everyone's having a bit of fun! Except maybe the doggee safeguarding his owner's bags!!
Then she walked in, and I had my Baywatch moment!

And then there was this bunch of surfer dudes, looking for the right place to hit the break. I followed them all over the beach!

Smile...you are on camera!!

I am a big fan of Justin Rosenberg and his colour palette. Here I have attempted processing a few of my shots as a tribute to his style!

Te Hanga is a fantastic piece of paradise. It's vast sands, lends itself to some amazing imagery. I love photographing the vastness of the space juxtaposed with isolated subjects. Somehow it illustrates my love for solitude in an increasingly chaotic world.
